My Journey

From 2017 to 2019, I proudly served as the lead visual art teacher for Guilford County Schools, where I took the lead in designing and implementing relevant professional development programs for secondary art teachers and establishing a strong community of practice. During this time, I had the privilege of witnessing the transformative power of serving as a resource to connect fellow educators to foster relationships between educators which in turn grew a large community of practice.

In 2016, I embarked on a groundbreaking initiative by designing and implementing the only curriculum of its kind in the state of North Carolina. This Digital Art program and class utilized Raspberry Pi computers and open-source programs, such as GNU Image Manipulation Program, Inskcape, and Photopea. I aimed to break down barriers and make digital art education accessible to all. One of my core beliefs is that while Adobe is an incredible program, students should never be burdened by the financial cost of software post-education with skills that make them applicable for 21st century jobs. I'm passionate about empowering students with skills and attributes that allow them to stand out as career-driven and ready individuals.
